Game of Thrones just ended its first season on HBO and has been a critical success to both reviewers and viewers. The intriguing and jaw-dropping show is based on the book series by George R. R. Martin and features mystery, fantasy, romance and science fiction plots to draw viewers into its plot.
The biggest shocker in season one of Game of Thrones had to be when the biggest star of the show, Sean Bean’s, character Eddard Stark, was beheaded. This is because in most TV shows, the most beloved star rarely dies; however, that is how the book was written and the script has remained very loyal to the plot in the book. Eddard Stark was killed on the request of Joffrey Baratheon, to set an example to the Kingdom that Joffrey had just become monarch of. This was a gut-wrenching and heart breaking scene, however, it was needed to further the plot and infuse the war that takes place.
Game of Thrones is an engaging and highly visual show, with the pilot episode costing over 3 million to make. The plot is complicated, the characters twisted and the language coarse and rude. And that is why viewers love the show. Simply put, HBO has another hit on its hands and viewers cannot wait until Season 2 debuts in April 2012.Still bored?
